AIG gives SOME of the money back.
All but seven of 25 top executives at AIG Financial Products had agreed by Monday afternoon to return their retention bonuses after a tacit threat from New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to name and shame. This story quotes a string of reassuring e-mails from AIG brass to employees and notes that the tone didn't change until mid-March.

Car a la Basic

Mumbai industrial magnate Ratan Tata has launched the Tata Nano, a jellybean of a car aimed at Indians on motorbike budgets. "All we set out to do was find a safer way to move Indian families at an affordable price," he said. "All of us have been overwhelmed by the reaction." But does the two-cylinder wonder -- with its one wiper and no airbag -- achieve the dream? Only time will tell. In lean times our needs change.
